Created by Alan Grant and Norm Breyfogle in Batman: Shadow of the Bat #1 (1992), Zsasz is a nihilistic murderer who believes he is liberating his victims from meaningless existence. His gaunt, scarred body covered in self-inflicted tally marks makes him one of Batman's most disturbing foes.
