The Honky Tonk Man (Wayne Ferris) held the WWF Intercontinental Championship from June 1987 to August 1988 — a record 64-week reign that stood for decades — making him one of the most successful IC champions in history despite his gimmick as a cowardly Elvis impersonator. His guitar smashing and the catchphrase 'I'm the greatest Intercontinental champion there ever was, there ever is, or there ever will be' were hallmarks of WWF's cartoon era.
