Hasbro's 2019 Marvel Legends Scorpion tooling, originally built for the Molten Man Build-A-Figure wave, gets repainted into the brighter, Spider-Man: The Animated Series-style green worn by Mac Gargan for this Retro Collection release. It was sold as an exclusive through Amazon and Fan Channel specialty retailers including GameStop rather than as a general mass-retail wave figure. The mechanical-tailed exoskeleton ships with five accessories in the package.

Scorpion debuted in Mortal Kombat (1992), created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Hanzo Hasashi was a Shirai Ryu ninja killed — along with his clan and family — by Bi-Han of the rival Lin Kuei. Resurrected as a hellfire specter by the sorcerer Quan Chi, Scorpion sought vengeance against Sub-Zero. His signature spear attack and the phrase "Get over here!" became synonymous with the franchise. Despite being a villain in appearance, later storylines redeemed Scorpion when the truth about his family's murder was revealed. NECA, McFarlane, Storm Collectibles, and Mezco all produced Scorpion figures.
