The over-muscled, neon-carded return of Star Wars to shelves — instantly recognizable for the buff proportions that made Kenner historians cringe and nostalgic collectors love in equal measure.
The Emperor as depicted in Return of the Jedi — wizened, black-robed, wielding Force lightning — is the definitive vintage Kenner version of the character. His grotesque appearance and hooded robes made the original 1983 Kenner figure one of the most distinctive in the line. The 1984 release was particularly notable for including a coin in certain markets.
