C 3PO
C-3PO was part of Kenner's very first Star Wars wave, the anxious protocol droid rendered in gold-finished plastic and carded on the debut 12-back packaging. The sculpt places him beside Artoo on Tatooine and aboard the Rebel blockade runner at the start of A New Hope. Kenner couldn't finish manufacturing in time for the 1977 holidays, so it sold the mail-away Early Bird Certificate Package as a stopgap before this carded figure reached stores with no accessories.
